Nelly Korda returns to LPGA Tour for Evian Championship

Nelly Korda is set to make her official return this week at the Amundi Evian Championship, one of the five major championships on the LPGA Tour. It marks her first appearance on Tour since she missed the cut at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship last month.

One day after missing the cut at the major in Seattle, Korda was bitten by a dog while sitting at a coffee shop in the city. That prompted her to pull out from the Aramco Team Series tournament in London last week.
Though Korda hasn’t gone into details about the bite, she spoke with fellow LPGA Tour member Alison Lee about the experience. Lee was also sidelined earlier this year after her boyfriend’s rescue dog bit her left hand and sent her to the hospital for three days. Her hand quickly became infected after the bite, and she was diagnosed with lymphangitis.

Korda has won six times on the LPGA Tour this season, including a dominant stretch where she won in five consecutive starts, an accomplishment that has been done only two other times in Tour history. Korda picked up the second major championship win of her career during that streak, with her victory at the Chevron Championship.

She has finished inside the top 10 in her past two starts at the Evian Championship, which is set to kick off Thursday from Evian Resort Golf Club in Évian-les-Bains, France.
