The Start of an Impressive Career
At the Mass Ave Crit, the emcee raises the microphone, preparing to introduce Andrea Cyr and some of the world’s best women cyclists. Cheers erupt as hometown favorite, Andrea Cyr, pedals to the starting line. Joining her are her Olympian-experienced teammates from Goldman Sachs ETFs Racing, one of the top domestic professional teams in the United States.
From Soccer to Cycling
Originally from Madawaska, Maine, Cyr began cycling to get in better shape for soccer nearly 15 years ago. She recalls, “I was just hooked. I think I did a 50-mile ride out the gate, and I loved it.” Now in her third year with Goldman Sachs ETFs Racing, Cyr is living a dream she had since starting her cycling career.
Team Camaraderie and Training
After competing in the Indy Crit races in July, Cyr and her teammates turned their attention to an upcoming two-week race in Chicago. Residing in Carmel, about 40 minutes from downtown Indianapolis, Cyr opened her home to her team for several days of training and relaxation. They bonded by watching the Tour de France, laughing, and sharing experiences.
Balancing Careers and Passion
As the team packed their van for the Chicago race, Andrea Cyr juggled her responsibilities as a medical director at Indianapolis Rehabilitation Hospital. She would meet up with the team in the Windy City a few days later. Cyr, who moved to Indianapolis three years ago, cherishes being part of the large and vibrant cycling community in central Indiana. She believes it creates a great environment for both pursuing cycling as a sport and enjoying it as a hobby.
