Alberto Palmetta’s Journey So Far
Alberto Palmetta, the seasoned welterweight boxer, has been eagerly waiting for a big-fight call. Following his victory over Janelson Figueroa Bocachica, that call finally arrived. Now, Palmetta is preparing to face Jesus Saracho in a 10-round welterweight bout that will headline the Wednesday Night Fights at the ProBox TV Events Center in Plant City, Florida. The event will be broadcast live on the ProBox TV app and YouTube.
Setbacks and Comebacks
Palmetta, who boasts a record of 19 wins, 2 losses, and 13 KOs, faced a setback earlier this year. In February 2023, he suffered a unanimous decision loss to Jamal James, putting a halt to his impressive 12-fight winning streak. Despite this, the 34-year-old Argentine remains optimistic. His recent unanimous decision victory over Bocachica, in a contest of fringe contenders, has rekindled his momentum and focus.
Preparation for the Big Fight
Palmetta admits that his preparation for the Bocachica bout was far from ideal. He was recovering from an injury and lacked strength and conditioning. “Really, against Bocachica, I didn’t have the best preparation,” Palmetta said. “I didn’t have strength and conditioning and was recovering from an injury. I was really focused on my boxing skills, but I couldn’t run. I couldn’t do different stuff.” For his upcoming fight, he has invested in a sports psychologist, a strength and conditioning coach, and a boxing coach to ensure he is in top form.
Facing Jesus Saracho
Palmetta will be up against 23-year-old Jesus Saracho, who has a record of 13 wins, 2 losses, and 1 draw, with 11 KOs. Saracho, originally from Mexico but now residing in Auburn, Washington, is known for his resilience and versatile fighting styles. “When I face a Mexican fighter, I prepare myself 150 percent,” Palmetta added. “Because all Mexicans, they come to fight and they can take a punch and keep going.” Saracho’s ability to switch between a forward-pressure style and a more measured approach makes him a formidable opponent.
A Step Closer to the Dream
Palmetta views this fight as a crucial step toward his ultimate goal of fighting for a world title. “A win puts me higher in the rankings, and that’s the thing that I’m looking for. I want to have an opportunity to fight for the world title and finally achieve my dream. I’ve been working for a long time. I really want to be world champion. So, I think that the fight is gonna put me one step closer to achieving my goal,” he said. As Palmetta steps into the ring, he carries the weight of his dreams and the hopes of achieving greater glory.
